Days 17 and 18

Yesterday it was really wet. Thankfully I was put in a tent to excavate otherwise I would have had sand and soil everywhere! I started on the new area with the otehr volunteers and one of the workmen. I excavated 1 skeleton to be told to move onto another as the recording and photographs will be done at the same time. After lunch I got told by someone else to finish my first one as otherwise it will all get confusing! Same as archaeology back home I lifted my originally skeleton this morning after having my paperwork checked and I forgot to colour in my skull which is not excatly hard to miss! Because its a new level we have to bottom out the grave so the nice yellow of the sand can be seen at the bottom. Lovely I thought, as one of the graves were shallow I was hoping mine would be. How wrong I was! It was getting deeper and deeper whilst I was expecting to end up in China, another skeleton appeared. This one has got a skull :D, 2 femurs, 2 tibas, 2 fibulas and feet! This is my first complete skeleton ever and whats more I think its a child again there are lots of epiphyses to locate too! Oh what fun.
Today the weather was lovely and dry but bloody cold! Everyone was jumping around and finding away to keep warm. Most warmed up as the sun came into view but the part I am in is in shade all day long. We kept finding excuses to walk into the sun so we could warm back up before going back to work in the cold!
