Well, I finished my last day on site today. It was good and I got a brilliant skeleton to finish on, it had hands and feet that werent articulated. It meant I had to think a tiny bit more to work out which phalanges went with what but thankfully I did not have to get feet and hand ones confused! I spent most of the day on this skeleton as otherwise I would be bored as there wasn't much else for me to do as they were preparing the rest of the site after the next level had been exposed. This meant they were cleaning it, photographing it and drawing the graves on the plans.
For tea break I bought pastries for everyone to share and the student was also leaving today so he brought in cake as well so it was a rather unhealthy break! It was still a good laugh. At lunch Daniel (DD) came on to site as 4 were leaving overall today (although 2 celebrated yesterday) to say goodbye and got us all little gives. I got a keyring which had the Belgisch flag on one side and on the other side it had mechelen with a picture of the tower on it. I was told it was to remember them all by and I mustn't forget them! When I left site at 4 this evening they were all still working as for halloween there will be ghost stories told on site under a tent with a real skeleton in a grave. It would be so cool to see but a) I wouldn't understand it as it would be in Vlaams and b) I will be back in England.
Tonight, I went out for a meal with the people I have been staying with. It was to celebrate Rob's birthday and they also wished me a safe journey home when I go on Sunday. It was a fun and relaxed evening. The waiter we had (the family know him, as you get to know everyone out here) could only speak Italian and French (we went to an Italian resturant) so it did mean I could practice my french.
